What Do Flowers Know About Us?

Yellow flowers glowing in the afternoon light as they quietly overlook the garden.

Have you ever thought that flowers might be hiding secrets? Just like trees. How much might they know about us? What do they think about the way we move so quickly?

Dear readers, wherever you are reading this post from, we hope you are well. We promise it will not be long, so that the feeling created by the flowers is not lost. Trees, when cared for properly, live for many years. People come and go, but they remain there. In the same yard, in the same place. And their seeds fall all around them.

What might they feel about us? They move through their networks beneath the ground and communicate with one another. They send help and nutrients to a nearby tree that is struggling to thrive.

What might they say about us, who sometimes withhold help and love from our fellow human beings? Would you not feel a little ashamed when a flower looks at you, so alive and peaceful, with only a few drops of rain, and yet you do not even have the time to admire it, to say, "Good morning, my flower. You look so beautiful today. What is the secret of your vitality?"

And can you imagine passing by a flower bed many years later and having the flowers remember you? Would they recognise you after you had changed so much? I am certain they would, because flowers do not see with their eyes. They see with feeling.

Thank you for stopping to look at the flowers with us. And we are sure they thank you as well for trusting them.
